About General Inpatient Care (GIP)
General Inpatient Care is short-term care provided in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or inpatient hospice unit when pain or other symptoms can no longer be managed effectively at home. It provides the intensive, around-the-clock nursing support needed to bring symptoms back under control.
Our clinical team monitors the patient closely and works to stabilize their condition as quickly as possible so they can return to the comfort of home under Routine Home Care once symptoms improve. Lakewood Hospice manages the coordination with the receiving facility so families can stay focused on their loved one, not paperwork.
